Cutting Board & General Wood Care

Q: How should I care for my cutting board?
A: To ensure the longevity of your cutting board, please follow these guidelines:

  • Avoid soaking or submerging in water: Extended exposure to water can damage the board.

  • Do not place in the dishwasher: The high heat and detergents can compromise the board’s integrity.

  • Condition the board regularly (once or twice per month) with a food-safe oil such as mineral oil and seal with a cutting board wax: This helps prevent the wood from drying out, cracking, and warping by providing a protective layer, making it more hygienic by sealing small crevices where bacteria can accumulate, enhancing its lifespan, and aesthetically improving the wood's appearance by bringing out its natural grain; oiling penetrates the wood while wax adds a surface barrier to further protect against liquids and stains

  • Avoid exposure to extreme heat or prolonged moisture: Keep the board in a stable, cool environment.

  • *Important: Returns will not be accepted for cutting boards damaged due to improper care.

Q: How do I maintain your other wood products?
A: the maintainenance required depends on what we use to finish the product. we plan to use Tung oil or Rubio Monocoat as the primary finish for most other products but we may occasionally use Water-based polyurethane for products such as wall art. we will do our best to include this info on our listings and keep this info updated if we change our finish process.

~ Tung oil provides a durable, water-resistant, and natural-looking finish that enhances the wood's beauty while offering excellent protection. To maintain your Tung oil-finished wood items:

  • Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth: Avoid excessive moisture and never use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

  • Reapply Tung oil as needed: Over time, the finish may wear down, especially on high-use items. To restore the finish, apply a light coat of pure Tung oil, let it penetrate for about 30 minutes, then wipe off any excess. Allow it to cure fully before using the item again.

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures: This can cause the wood to dry out and lead to cracking.

~ Rubio Monocoat is a high-quality, natural hardwax oil that protects and enhances the beauty of wood while maintaining its natural feel. To care for items finished with Rubio Monocoat:

  • Clean with a damp cloth or Rubio Monocoat Surface Care Spray: Avoid harsh chemicals, as they may strip the protective layer.

  • Use Rubio Monocoat Refresh when needed: This helps rejuvenate and maintain the protective finish. Apply a small amount and buff it into the surface.

  • Avoid excessive moisture and standing water: Rubio Monocoat provides strong protection, but prolonged water exposure can still damage the wood.

  • For high-traffic items, consider reapplying Rubio Monocoat Oil: Over time, heavy use may wear down the finish. A light reapplication can restore the protective qualities.

~ Water-based polyurethane provides a durable, clear protective coat that enhances the wood's natural beauty while offering resistance to scratches and moisture. To maintain polyurethane-finished items:

  • Clean with a mild soap and water mixture: Use a soft cloth or sponge to wipe down the surface. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.

  • Dust regularly with a microfiber cloth: This helps prevent buildup and maintains the finish's clarity.

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture and heat: While polyurethane is water-resistant, standing water or extreme heat can still cause damage over time.

  • For minor scratches or wear, apply a fresh coat of polyurethane: Lightly sand the surface with fine-grit sandpaper, wipe clean, and apply a new coat to refresh the finish.

With proper care, your wood items will maintain their beauty and durability for years to come.

Q: Are your designs completely created by hand, or do you use AI?
A: Our creative process varies depending on the product. Much of our digital art is developed using the Adobe Creative Suite—primarily Photoshop and Illustrator—along with the AI generation tools built into Photoshop and platforms such as Midjourney. For example, all of our canvas wall art prints are generated with Midjourney and then heavily edited in Photoshop—essentially, anything that resembles a painting. However, while many of our products draw inspiration from traditional art forms, we do not refer to these pieces as paintings, much like we don’t call our engraved products hand-engraved.

It’s important to recognize that AI tools and image generation are now integral to digital design—Photoshop, for example, has AI built into its workflow, so it’s here to stay whether we like it or not. While I would love to spend countless hours taking photos, drawing everything by hand, and perfecting designs manually, time constraints and industry demands require that I keep pace with the available tools—just as most people and companies do. That said, we heavily edit AI-generated designs to maintain copyright integrity. Additionally, we have the ability to make any requested edits manually to ensure a truly custom final product.

For those who appreciate nuance, I studied Graphic Design and Game Design in college and have been drawing since childhood. While I took a break from traditional art into adulthood and pursued a career in IT and tech, I eventually realized that I still need and enjoy a creative outlet—even if it involves leveraging technology.

Our journey has evolved from starting with dropshipping to establishing our in-house laser engraving and woodworking shop in 2024. This transition allows us to craft our products ourselves and invest even more personally in the creative process.

WE appreciate all our customers support and thank every one of you for giving us the opportunity to persue our dreams of design and artisanry!
